"No Deer This Year", 2000, 23" x 25"
Hooked during my first hooking retreat at Sauder Village in
Archbold, OH with Julie Marie Smith. I added my husband sleeping against
the tree to her pattern. The border has human and deer footprints.
Hooked with all recycled wool.
The label on the back:
A favorite hunting spot for my husband, David, is in the hills of West Virginia
on his aunt Delores' property. Every year he suited up but never brought
home a deer. We discovered the cause of his lack of hunting success when
my daughter, Jennifer, went with him. After raising before dawn, dressing
warmly and hiking over hills to the "good spot," her dad settled down to wait
for the deer and quickly fell asleep. After his nap, they walked back to
the house for lunch.
